UPVC Replacement Door Handles
The handles on your doors wear out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the old aluminium window handles handle.
The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's location the lever and key hole dimensions. Check the size guide for assistance in this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle is a contemporary door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This style door handle is available in a variety of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this type of handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are perfect for multi-point lock bi-fold doors handles that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and run with the same spindle as well as screw fixings, so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The handle can be adjusted and angled to fit all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200 000 cycles. This helps ensure that the quality of finish and performance over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is especially useful in doors with smaller door frames where the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also a good choice for doors where the latch could be activated by the thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently from lever-type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles, either inline or offset. They are generally employed on UPVC double-glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and styles.
The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White Chrome and Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.
All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with a spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on a new or existing uPVC Sliding Door Handles. The 211mm backplate fixing centres permit a bigger handle, which can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers are spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when they are not in use.
It is essential to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement may also be called 'handle centre or cylinder centre'. It is important to match the correct handles.
Once you have decided on the correct PZ size it is important to make sure that the push and lever pads are designed to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are typically round or square, with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are sprung. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal position after not being used instead of hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the building. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed versions, allowing them to be installed on either side of the doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks can be found on upvc window locking handles and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case which will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, permitting them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.
The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is contingent on the way your doors and handle are used. For example, external doors require a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that increase security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump features.
A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure it's the correct size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon may be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is crucial that it is not too long.
Most newer cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help to deflect attacks and keep your door safe.
There are cylinders that have been made to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent type of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to break off the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is much quicker and easier to achieve than opening a multipoint lock and leaves no evidence of a break-in, which can hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of your aluminium door handle handle. It provides a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their resting position after using. Previously a lot of handles didn't have a spring built into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. Adding this simple component is one of the best ways to correct this and it is also a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in either closed or open position, as these aren't always simple to close manually.
These spring cassettes are specially made for use with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You must have a custom hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please look at the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution for damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as one unit. They come with a square cut out that can accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are a great value-for-money way to fix the problem of door handles that are that are sagging. They are simple to put in and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
