Types of Car Keys

Keyless Entry

Transponder keys (also known as chip keys) are among the most popular types of keys for cars. They function with an embedded microchip in the head of the plastic. The microchip transmits a weak signal to the receiver inside your car that only matches up with the serial number encoded into it by the manufacturer. Mechanical Keys

Modern automobiles no longer use mechanical keys. Instead, they employ an RFID chip inside keys to identify it and communicate with the car's system to start and function. A mechanical key will open the doors and access the fuel cap however, if it has not been programmed to communicate with the car, it will not start.

The system employs LF (low-frequency at 125 kHz) that transmits antennas both inside and out of the vehicle. These antennas communicate with smart keys. If the suzuki key code is close enough to trigger one of these antennas, it transmits its identification back to the car using RF (radio frequency greater than 300 MHz). The PASE module validates the key, then turns off the immobilizer, and allows the vehicle to start.
